Thomas Officially a Bronco

I know that this is a Tech and not an NFL blog but wanted to drop a note to say that BeBe is now a Bronco after signing his deal. This is not big news but the author's description of the Georgia Tech offense did make me gag a bit.

What Can We Realistically Expect?

As the football season comes closer and closer, all fans begin to wonder what their team's ability of success will be this year. Will they win it all? Will they finish .500? Will they score a touchdown? Will any more of their players get arrested?

As I go through the online publications, I find that even though Tech had a great year last year (and it WAS a great year), no seems to be taking them seriously. Sites like Bleacher Report even had them rated as the 3rd best team in the ACC. I don't take their reports seriously because they wanted me to write for them, so how good could they really be? Regardless, even the more established experts seem to think that the exodus of juniors and seniors is going to kill the program this year. Apparently, Dywer, Morgan, Thomas and Burnett were just dragging the rest of the team to its success last year.

But all this stuff got me thinking? Could Tech end up with the same thing as last year? Could they win the ACC and play Iowa in the Orange Bowl again? *Experts have predicted that Iowa will win their conference* I am not sure if the Tech fan base would want to relive that experience.

So if we do we, as a fan base, want? What can we realistically expect for this year? We have heard CPJ say that he expects to be little drop-off from last year's production and they could be even better as some of the younger players that played last year will have matured and become more familiar in the TO offense. If that is the case, then what do we want for this year? What would you call a success? Last year, the MOTG poll results were that an ACC Championship would be the marker for a great year and it happened. So what about this year? Do we increase out expectations? Or are we thinking that there will be a letdown due to the absence of our big star players?

As I often do, I will post my expectations for this year and then let you put down yours. I think that is only fair. Here are my realistic expectations for the upcoming football season.

vs. South Carolina State (Win)
vs. Kansas (Win)
vs. North Carolina (Close Loss) - Hey they are predicted to be a Top5 defense!
vs. North Carolina State (Win)
vs. Wake Forest (Win)
vs. Virginia (Win)
vs. Middle Tennessee State (Win)
vs. Clemson (Win)
vs. Virginia Tech (Win) - Always a linchpin for the season
vs. Miami (Loss)
vs. Duke (Win)
vs. Georgia (Win)

So that makes the end of the season's record to be 10-2. Not too shabby, right? This is a realistic season for Tech. Now there are always surprises and upsets but a 10 win season, which would put Tech in the running for another ACC Championship, is a big deal.

So, now it's your turn. Go!
